          <dc:description>The purpose of this study is to enhance Japanese teaching materials in sex education by translation and analysis of the American Standard 1 concepts（ students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention） for the Sexual Health Module of HECAT（ Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool）.
There is no specific category（ corresponding to module） for sex education in the Japanese Health Education course, which is divided into three to five categories depending on the grade level. The five elementary-school categories include 1. Daily life and health, 2. Body development and growth, 3. Mental health, 4. Injury prevention, and 5. Disease prevention. The four junior-high categories include 1. Functional development in mind, body, and mental health, 2. Health and environment, 3. Injury prevention, and 4. Healthy life and disease prevention. The three senior-high categories include 1. Modern society and health, 2. Lifelong health, 3. Social life and health.
From the perspective of a more extensive sex education, Japanese teachers need to explore ways to expand the concept of physical maturation related to sexuality in their presentation of growth and development, mental health, and disease prevention.</dc:description>
