Creativity is important for the development of the individual and the overall prosperity of the society, but also is crucial for the language learner for language itself is highly creative, playful, and imaginative. Three types of creativity tasks are explored in this paper: divergent thinking tasks, problem solving tasks, and metaphorical thinking tasks.
