However, his medical science seems to have intrinsic continuity of thought with\nHippocratic medicine. Herophilus followed the medical principle formulated in the\nHippocratic treatise On the Nature of Man, when he made his methodological\npronouncement to the effect that primary parts of the human body should be perceptible\nby the senses. Herophilus rejected cardiocentrism, introduced by his teacher Praxagoras\ninto the medical school of Cos, and returned to Hippocratic encephalocentrism, as\nrepresented by the author of the Hippocratic treatise On the Sacred Disease. Herophilus\ndifferentiated between the faculties of the soul and the ones attributed to the nature. In his\ndifferentiation between these two faculties, Herophilus probably had in mind the\nHippocratic conception of nature as specifically applied to the domain of the human body,\nas distinct from the soul. Herophilus’ commitment to Hippocratic medicine is confirmed by\nhis literary works on some of the Hippocratic texts. It is probable that Herophilus regarded\nhimself as a more faithful successor than his teacher to the tradition of Hippocratic\nmedicine. His anatomical researches on the structure and functions of the brain, motivated\nby his loyalty to the Hippocratic tradition, led him to innovative contributions to the\ndevelopment of medicine.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_4_description_7":{"attribute_name":"引用","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"Archaeology of Intellectual Aspects of European Culture, P.5-30","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_4_full_name_2":{"attribute_name":"著者(ヨミ)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"400","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}],"names":[{"name":"イマイ, マサヒロ"}]}]},"item_4_full_name_3":{"attribute_name":"著者別名","attribute_value_mlt":[{"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"399","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"},{"nameIdentifier":"14","nameIdentifierScheme":"研究者総覧","nameIdentifierURI":"http://hue2.jm.hirosaki-u.ac.jp/html/14_ja.html"}],"names":[{"name":"今井, 正浩"}]}]},"item_4_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"2186-9391","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_4_subject_19":{"attribute_name":"日本十進分類法","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"490","subitem_subject_scheme":"NDC"}]},"item_4_subject_23":{"attribute_name":"NIIサブジェクト","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"医学","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_4_text_4":{"attribute_name":"著者所属","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"Faculty of Humanities,University of Hirosaki"}]},"item_4_version_type_18":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Imai, Masahiro"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2018-03-12"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"ArchEuroCulture_1_5.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"395.7 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"ArchEuroCulture_1_5.pdf","url":"https://hirosaki.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/1850/files/ArchEuroCulture_1_5.pdf"},"version_id":"6e18eeeb-e8f4-4ad4-84e7-e8cd849fe01d"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"Herophilus of Chalcedon","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Anatomical Researches on the Human Body","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Encephalocentrism","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Conception of Nature","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Herophilus of Chalcedon and the Hippocratic Tradition in Early Alexandrian Medicine","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Herophilus of Chalcedon and the Hippocratic Tradition in Early Alexandrian Medicine"}]},"item_type_id":"4","owner":"3","path":["341"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2012-04-06"},"publish_date":"2012-04-06","publish_status":"0","recid":"1850","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Herophilus of Chalcedon and the Hippocratic Tradition in Early Alexandrian Medicine"],"weko_creator_id":"3","weko_shared_id":3},"updated":"2023-05-15T12:27:42.059427+00:00"}
