The goal of the sessions is to improve the learners’ speaking skills, with an emphasis on pronunciation. Over the course of the 11 months of training, the instructor adjusted the teaching method, beginning with traditional role-play drills before changing to AI-supported shadowing exercises. The AI technology utilized, “Reading Progress,” is included in the Microsoft Teams platform. After introducing the method and evolution of these sessions, the paper concludes by considering some of the benefits and drawbacks to the technologically-driven exercises. The primary purpose of this report is to discuss the AI technology and its suitability—or lack thereof—to classroom implementation. It ultimately suggests that despite certain limitations Reading Progress can be a useful tool for reducing the educator’s burden in certain
