It introduces the former curriculum, explaining the impetus for the overhaul, including in part, flagging enrolment numbers. This is followed by an investigation into class scheduling across the institution as a whole for the purpose of identifying the most appropriate times for holding the classes. The paper then turns to an extensive online student survey (N = 752) which produced data on the degree of awareness of the advanced curriculum; reasons for taking/ wanting to take the classes; reasons for not taking/not wanting to take the classes; interest in English skills-based classes, academic English, and content-based or project-style classes; as well as interest in a list of course-content topics.
