It has been pointed out that the model did not adequately organize the coping component, causing logical incoherence. The role of listening commitments in reappraisal has been also questioned. By reviewingpsychological stress theories, this study reorganizes the coping component of the appraisal model and reformulates listening commitments and reappraisal with the idea of cognitive reframing. It alsoexamines the results of a small-scale pilot study exploring the development of these coping processes conducted by the present author to provide basic data for more detailed future research, specifically pointing to the important role of social support in their development.
