内容記述 | The domain-specific psychological resilience in the L2 context or L2 resilience has been acknowledged for its effects on many aspects of L2 learning and use and extensively researched into in recent years. The exact mechanism of its emergence and development, however, has yet to be resolved. The present study addressed the construct of psychological hardiness as a mediating factor in the emergence and development of L2 resilience. It developed a tentative construct model for domain-specific hardiness in the context of L2 learning and use, following Kobasa’s (1979) original formulation of domain-general hardiness. The model identified the three component categories of L2 Commitment, L2 Control, and L2 Challenge in conceptualizing L2 hardiness. The conceptualization of L2 hardiness as comprising the three component categories led to the development of a prototypical measuring scale of L2 hardiness. Both the interview data and measurement data obtained with the developed prototypical L2 hardiness scale show the relevance and validity of domain-specificity of hardiness in L2 learning and use. As implications for future research, the multidimensionality of L2 resilience( Hiver and Solarte, 2021) was pointed to for further investigation and explication to arrive at more comprehensive and dynamic understanding of the emergence and development of L2 resilience and its workings in multivarious L2 contexts with diverse learners. | |||||||
