| 内容記述 | Japan’s English education system is going through a number of attempts to change itself from both inside and outside. It is a well-known fact that Japan’s central government is highly committed to and has a strong control over public education. Recently, the government has been asserting great pressure on universities to reform their English education curricula, announcing a series of policy changes one after another over the past several years. In this paper, I first look at government reform plans that have had an effect on the English education system in Japan, then briefly summarize the country’s history of English education to better understand why such reform was necessary and finally consider some additional issues that need to be tackled to further improve the English educational system. | |||||||
